Dictionary definition

'a dimension taken through an object or body of material, usually downward from an upward surface, horizontally inward from an outer surface, or from top to bottom of something regarded as one of several layers'

These 4 images show depth, I think these images show depth very well because as things get further away from the camera they get smaller, this is shown in all of these photos. I particularly like the image of New York from the top of a skyscraper because the cars at the bottom on the road look tiny because of how high up the image was taken. 

My definition

Showing depth is a way of showing that something is 3D by showing it getting smaller.
